Looking for snowman books to read during your winter theme? We've got a list of our favorites!
My Three listened to hundreds of wintertime related books as we put together our winter theme pack. I think that the snowman books were his favorite! Here are our top picks.
1 Snowy Solar day, but Jeffrey Scherer
We enjoyed this easy reader volume about a group of animals working together to build a snowman. The friendly illustrations make this quick book an enjoyable read.
Frosty the Snowman, past Jack Rollins and Steve Nelson
This is a uncomplicated little lath volume with the familiar song as its text. Cute!
Snowman Magic, by Katherine Tegen
Personally, I couldn't get into this book, simply it was a favorite of my Three and especially my Five. George builds the perfect snowman in his backyard, and after he'south added the final touch on the snowman comes to life. They have a lot of fun together until the snowman melts – just George builds him over again with the next big snowfall.
Snowballs, by Lois Ehlert
Usually I am non a big fan of Ehlert'southward books. I realize I'1000 in the minority here, simply I notice the collage illustrations hard to make out, and the text oftentimes fails to engage my kids. Merely both my boys and I actually enjoyed the collage style illustrations that tell the story of an unabridged family of snow people in this volume. Highly recommended!
Yous Brand Me Smile, by Layn Marlow
This is a super simple volume about a petty child making a snowman. The book has just a few words, but it doesn't matter because the illustrations steal the show. A nice quick read.
The Biggest Snowman Ever, by Steven Kroll
Having read The Biggest Pumpkin Always and The Biggest Apple tree E'er, this volume'due south story line feels like a repeat. Just read alone it's a beautiful story nearly two mice who work together to win the town contest to build the biggest snowman.
Snow Party, past Harriet Ziefert
This is such a fun book about snowmen who get together for a party to gloat the first snowfall. The best function of all are the illustrations, which completely captured the states. I love that the snowmen are perfectly brought to life and that all the party food is some form of snowfall or ice. This was fun to read aloud, and my Three and I liked to report the pictures.
The Snowman, by Raymond Briggs
This is a archetype wordless picture book about a boy who builds a snowman and sees it come up to life. After exploring his dwelling house with the snowman, the two go on a magical journey. The best function of a wordless volume is that your kid tin tell the story to you lot.
The Snowman and the Snowdog, based on characters past Raymond Briggs
Usually I'1000 not a fan of books created by someone other than the original author, but this 1 is cute. My Three loved the story of a male child who finds a photograph from the original Snowman book. The boy creates his own snowman and snowdog – and after many adventures with the snowman, the dog comes to life and becomes his own. My Three was fascinated.
All You Need for a Snowman, by Alice Schertle
In this very simple volume, a group of children build a giant snowman. The story and mannerly illustrations definitely proceed the interest of little listeners.
The First Day of Wintertime, past Denise Fleming
Denise Fleming is a well loved author/illustrator, but I'm normally not crazy about her books because the illustrations are besides fuzzy for me. Withal, we actually enjoyed this snowman story that we could sing, to the melody of 12 Days of Christmas.
Snowmen at Night, by Caralyn Buehner
So what do snowmen do at night? According to this volume, they go out our yards and join their friends for snowball fights, sledding, and fifty-fifty snow baseball. This is a fun story, simply the paintings really steal the testify. This is my favorite, only you'll detect many more books by the same author (Snowmen at Christmas, Snowmen at Work, and Snowmen at Play).
The Biggest, Best Snowman, by Margery Cuyler
Little Nell is always being told that she'southward not big enough to do the things her big sisters practice. Merely she's adamant to build a snowman – and with the help of her forest animal friends, she builds the biggest one of all. Nosotros own this book, and my preschooler requests it often. A favorite!
